Democrasoft, Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with Innominds, Inc., of San Jose, CA, the central technology developer assigned to the creation of Democrasoft’s Collaborize platform for group collaboration, to issue up to $150,000 of Democrasoft common stock at $1.00 per share for a like amount of Innominds services.

Collaboration Software - Collaborize

Through its affiliate in India, Innominds has been providing development services to Democrasoft at a rate in the mid-six figures annually since the development project began, and the parties expect that rate to ramp up over the next year as Democrasoft expands the capabilities of its platform. The $150,000 development investment by Innominds represents only a portion of the expenditures planned with Innominds in the coming months.

Democrasoft also announced that its online “collaborative education” offering, Collaborize Classroom, recently won the Outstanding Achievement Award in Education from the Interactive Media Council, scoring in the top 14 of approximately 140 submissions.

The number of teachers launching Collaborize Classroom sites has been growing at a compounded monthly rate of more than 30% since October 2010.

“While the amount of this investment by Innominds is relatively small, it will still help us offset the additional development costs associated with our planned expansion of features and capabilities,” said Richard Lang, Chairman and CEO of Democrasoft. “When we jointly explored the options for collaboration and closely aligning our interests, Democrasoft gave this investment favorable consideration. Both parties are excited about the possibilities that are emerging.”

In addition to serving as the primary development arm of Democrasoft, Innominds is also a Collaborize reseller in India. According to Divakar Tantravahi, Managing Director of Innominds, “We are very impressed with the potential of the Collaborize platform. Our relationship with Democrasoft is an example of the added value we can bring to all our customers, beyond our product engineering services. We are looking forward to continued success working together.”

Online Collaboration | Democrasoft

Democrasoft, Inc. today announced its operating results for fiscal 2010 and the first quarter of 2011. For the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company reported a net loss of $3,427,051 on revenues of $9,675 as it continued its transition from intellectual property licensing to purpose-driven social networking. For the quarter ended March 31, 2011, the net loss was $502,842 on revenues of $732,500.

The Company also reported that, since the end of 2010, it has closed sales of three legacy patent portfolios, two of which have been previously disclosed. Net proceeds of $731,250 from the sale of two portfolios are reflected in the first quarter results, and additional net proceeds of $162,000 will be reflected in the second quarter operating results. The Company does not expect any further material net proceeds from the sales of legacy intellectual property.

Of the four offerings built on the Company’s Collaborize® platform, the Company has been particularly emphasizing deployment of Collaborize Classroom, its highly-regarded cloud-based tool for extending classroom discussions beyond the classroom walls. From a standing start during the fourth quarter of 2010, more than 3,500 teachers throughout the United States and elsewhere have now created Collaborize Classroom sites with a member base of more than 15,000 experiencing the benefits of Collaborize Classroom, and growing. As deployment increases, the Company will pursue various monetization channels, which it has identified.

“We are extremely pleased that both teachers and students really love how Collaborize Classroom enriches the education process, resulting in engaged and motivated students,” said Richard Lang, Chairman and CEO. “In these challenging times, we know that school administrators will notice both the educational benefits and the proven savings from our free offering, which can save schools up to $100 per month per classroom. Though the growth so far has occurred from a very small base, Collaborize Classroom has been consistently growing at more than 30% per month, compounded for quite a few months,” Lang noted.

Last Friday, the Marketing team here at Democrasoft choose the winner of the Twitter Contest to win a night’s stay at the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country on the night of the Wisdom of We 2010 Seminar & Tweetup on September 10th.

The winner was chosen from a random letter generator that came up with two letters, and then we searched through the list of Tweeple who entered the contest to find the Twitter names that had the correct combination of letters (we searched until we found a combination had generated more than five and less than twenty Twitter names).  Those names were written on pieces of paper and we drew a name from a box (we have no hats here in the Marketing office) and ding, ding, ding, we had a winner!

We had over 100 entries for the contest, which we couldn’t have done without the help of our online community!  So, thank you to everyone who tweeted the phrase “#WOW10 w/ @shelisrael & @scobleizer is all about wine, food & community – Check it out! http://bit.ly/WOW10

And the winner of the Wisdom of We 2010 Twitter Contest is…..
